Mr Michael Abbott is a Barrister and a law graduate of Adelaide University (LLB 1966). He has been actively involved with the University as the Chair of the organising committee of the 1st Australian Universities International Alumni Convention, held in Adelaide from 4 to 6 October 1998 and as Deputy Chair of the 2nd Convention held in Kuching last year. Mr Michael Abbott QC, retired from the board of the Australia-India Council (AIC) in May 2005. Mr Abbott joined the AIC as
an inaugural board member in 1992 and served two terms as Chairman (March 1999 – May 2005). Mr Abbott has played
a very active role and has contributed substantially to the Council’s efforts, both as Chairman and as a member, in further-
ing the bilateral relationship.
